MSTS - CSX Western & Atlantic Route
Tunnel Hill, GA - Acworth, GA
My first route for a railroad simulation program was never finished, but there still seems to be a tiny bit of interest in it, so i've resurrected the download for it. This is the same version found in the MSTS file library.

Introducing the Dalton Diamond
The city of Dalton, Georgia, has put up a webcam at the renovated freight depot next to the railroad tracks. This camera is pointed directly at the spot where the CSX Western & Atlantic line crosses over NS's Atlanta North District line. Since i'm currently modeling this in Railworks, I thought it would be a good idea to give you a peek at the real thing.
On peak days, around 40 trains will pass through this junction, in a addition to local switchers and city-yard jobs. CSX trains run on roughly a 2-3 hour schedule, while NS trains usually clump together between the hours of 5pm and 8am. You will see all sorts of CSX and NS trains. NS Roadrailers generally run around 6am. BNSF coal trains, 3-6 per day, can be seen at any time. Occasionaly a Union Pacific intermodal headed for Atlanta will make an appearance.
The camera quality isn't as good as some cams i've seen, there is no sound, and you have to put up with ads, but otherwise it's a pretty neat shot. Also, you may need to tell your browser to allow ActiveX controls in order to view the cam.
Click on the "Play" button in the lower left corner of screen. Clicking the large one in the center pops out the main site.
Signal Creation Tutorial
Parts 1-4 of a signal creation tutorial for Railworks 3 is now available for users of 3D Canvas. This was written using 3DC version 8.xxx, but should be applicable to all version. Even if you are not into creating signals, the tutorial still provides useful tips for building assets for the simulator.
The 3DC files and Source files for this asset are also available for download on page one of the tutorial.

About SMM Asset Downloads
2011-1105 - The assets that are available in the left Download pane were made for Railworks 2 train simulator. They are not "optimized" (I prefer the term repaired, being that they weren't broken until the Great Downdate) to run in Railworks 3: Train Simulator 2012. I am currently using these assets without issues in the TSX engine of TS2012. However, with TSX off, several assets have displayed a few anomalies that may affect your game play experience.
These assets are slowly being repaired as I work them into the next release of the Atlanta North District Route. As soon as that route is made available for public consumption, I will begin reworking and re-releasing the assets that have been affected by the changes RSC has made. In the mean time they are still available for your use at your own discretion.
