Best of the Chaser Cam

Two years ago, I made a short DVD-Movie documenting traffic on the Norfolk Southern and CSX railroad lines in north Georgia. Simply titled the Best of The Chaser Cam, the video shows 23 trains - locals, intermodals, auto-racks, coal, and general freights from all four of the major U.S. railroads. The video was taken over a two year period from 2006-2008. Most of the clips in this file can be found at my video site on YouTube, but they are shown in their entirety in this movie.
This video is available to download for free, but only in the Xvid video format. The codec for this format is available at Xvid.org. Some video players natively play the Xvid format, such as VLC Media Player.
Be aware though that this is a massive download - the video is close to an hour long and weighs in at 1.5GB. Downloading from a 6Mbps broadband connection, the video will take 30-40 minutes to download (dependent also on how many consecutive downloads at any given time).

Crossing Signal Bell "Upgrade"
Since the release of the crossing signal assets, some in the simming community have asked for crossing bells that sound until the train has passed. For these signals, it is unprototypical, as the bells typically sound for the first ten seconds of the crossing warning, and then are silent (sometimes they also sound at the end of the pass). I'm now issuing a patch that will convert all crossing gates and cantilever signals to a steady bell from first warning until the train has passed.
With a limited script, there are certain trade offs by switching these bells with the original. The bell sound is now looped, and at the end of it's cycle will end abruptly. I had to remove the tapered bell sound at the end of the .wav, and the script will not support three sound instances or more than one .wav file, so this is just the way it is. Also, for the crossing gates, the bell runs several seconds past the time the lights go out on the last animation. The bell is synced to the animation, and the lights go off before the animation frames are actually completed.
Click below to download the patch. It is in .rwp format, so follow the usual Railworks installation instructions to get it into the game. As usual, I am warning that even though this works well on my computer, it may not work well on yours, and you should back up anything that you deem is important to you in your RW installation (you DO make back-ups, don't you?). The patch will "upgrade" all existing gate and signal scripts, as well as the PROXYXML, PROXYBIN, and .wav files in the SMMDigital\RailNetwork\LevelCrossings folder. You may want to make a backup of these files just in case you don't like the results of the patch.
